Haters Need Love: Why Elon's Trillionaire Critics Reveal Themselves
About this episode
The louder the criticism of someone's success, the more meaningful that success tends to be. In this solo monologue, Ben Beeri argues that haters, bullies, and online trolls are projecting their own stalled potential — and the people complaining about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire are the same ones who complained when he was a billionaire and a millionaire. Drawing on his own ten-year run building a business through waves of criticism, the host reframes disapproval as a signal you're doing something that matters, and offers a simple response: send those people love and take the next step anyway. Expect candid thoughts on self-permission, entrepreneurship, dealing with critics, and the mindset shift that separates builders from spectators. "There's only one person's permission that you need. That's yours."

Ben BeeriHear people complaining about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire. You think people would be complaining about Elon becoming a trillionaire if it wasn't meaningful? Those are the same people who complained about him being a billionaire, the same people who complained about him being a millionaire. You don't like him because he became a trillionaire or do you not like yourself? Breaking news: If you are a human being and you breathe oxygen, not everybody's going to agree with you and not everybody is going to like you.
It's a part of life. And as I continue to go along my journey of life, come across a few people that don't agree with me, they don't like me, And to those people, I have to say one thing, that's okay. I have nothing but love for you. I want to see nothing but what's best for you. And it's interesting to think about that, because so many of us stop ourselves short of what we actually want to do in life. We stop ourselves short of our visions, or our dreams, and we don't take action on the things that we want in life because we're worried that somebody might not like us.
Somebody might not think highly of us. Somebody may disagree with what you have to say. The best thing you can do in return is keep doing what you are doing, and take another step towards your goals, and your hopes, and your dreams, and your visions. Because you wouldn't have those hopes and dreams and visions if you didn't truly want it. And if somebody doesn't like you or agree with what you are doing, that's probably more of a reflection on where they are in life. Because I have yet to meet someone who has genuinely gone after what they wanted in life, that has had a problem with me going after what I've wanted to go for in life.
I've met a few people who have had a problem with what I've wanted to go for in life, And I have sympathy for those people, I really do. Because when I see those people, the thing that I see is somebody who has so much potential, who feels like at a certain point in time in their life had potential, and that the potential no longer exists, and that now they don't get to go after the thing that they wanted to go after. So they disagree. They don't like you. Maybe they make a negative comment on social media or YouTube.
It's like, thanks. Like, that's okay. Like, thank you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say. Like, you could be doing anything else right now, like, you could be watching anybody else, you could be listening to anybody else, you could be going outside, you could be throwing a football around, you could be walking by the beach, you could be going to your favorite restaurant, but instead, you're watching me, and you're not a fan, And that's okay. Like, totally cool with it. And I'm talking about this, not because I'm at a place where I'm like, am I having a problem with this?
I really just wanna bring this to the attention of the people that are hesitant to go for the thing that they want to go for. Like you sitting right there watching me talk about people who hate right now. Like, don't let them stop you. Like, you're a couple more steps away from making your shit happen. And it's like, and how can we get you to not really worry about those people? Like, hear it all the time. Like, there's bullies in school. What do they say about bullies in school? Hurt people hurt people.
The people that bully you in school are usually the people that have the hardest life themselves. And then you want to go and do something. You want to do something with your life, like something that is meaningful to you. Like, don't let anybody stop you. Like, certainly not their opinions. Like, you can go for it. Like, you really can. There's only one person's permission that you need. That's yours. And if you need another person's, like, you've got mine. Like, I'm giving you permission. Like, go for it.
Like, go for the thing you want to go for. Like, I remember the time in my life where I wanted to start my business, and I was really, really, really hesitant to do so because I was worried about what people would think of me. There were people who didn't like when I started my business. Were people who didn't like my business one year in, two years in, three years in, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten years in. I realize that the more people that don't like what you're doing means that you're doing something that's actually meaningful.
Like, nobody's going to care about what you're doing in life if it's not meaningful. I hear people complaining about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire. You think people would be complaining about Elon becoming a trillionaire if it wasn't meaningful? Those are the same people who complained about him being a billionaire, and the same people who complained about about him being a millionaire. It's like, here's a man who's devoted his life to what he's passionate about. He's helped so many other people become financially successful in life, And you don't like him because he became a trillionaire?
Or do you not like yourself? Like, do you not like yourself? And it doesn't matter what Elon does. You've just got to project the way you feel about yourself onto him. And that's what I've found about the bullies, the haters, the trolls. It's like, yo, like, those people need love. Like, those people actually need love. And it's like the next time somebody's bullying you, or somebody's hating on you, or somebody's trolling you, it's like, can you find it within yourself? You don't have to respond to them. You don't have to say anything to them, but it's like, hey, like, I send this person love, like, they're in a place where they probably need it, and just send them that love. Send them good energy.
Because at the end of the day, they wouldn't be coming at you in that way if they didn't feel a certain way about themselves. And the thing that you want to do, the thing that you're actively doing, the thing that somebody told you about your goals, your visions, your appearance, the way you talk. Doesn't matter. Like, what matters is how you see you. It's like everybody else is just an illusion. They're an illusion that is designed to get you to your highest self. And the day you see it that way and understand that you have something that you want to accomplish in life.
Just make it happen. Give yourself the permission to do it. Take the next step. After you take that step, take the next step. Somebody says something along the way, it's okay. At the end of the day, they've got to wake up every morning and live with themselves. That's their punishment, really. They have to live in their own lives. If you had to live their lives, that would be a punishment for you. So keep doing your thing. I'm sending you love. I'm sending your haters even more love, and I'm excited to see you kick ass in life.
We'll talk soon.
